Travel in total comfort in our luxury Mercedes-Benz vehicles with a professional, English-speaking driver who handles your luggage and the logistics, allowing you to explore the artistic wonders of Padua before arriving at the lagoons of Venice.

The Artistic Heart of Padua (Padova)

Situated between the Bacchiglione and Brenta rivers, Padua is one of Italy’s most ancient and picturesque cities. Known for its dense network of arcaded streets and large communal piazze, it is famously the setting for Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew and home to one of the world’s oldest universities.

The Scrovegni Chapel: A Masterpiece of Western Art

The absolute jewel of Padua is the Scrovegni Chapel. It houses a world-renowned fresco cycle completed in 1305 by Giotto. This “Arena Chapel” details the life of the Virgin Mary and is considered one of the most important artistic achievements in history. Note: Due to strict preservation rules, entrance involves a climate-controlled vault experience and must be booked well in advance.

The Basilica of St. Anthony: "Il Santo"

The most famous landmark in the city is the Basilica di Sant’Antonio. This spectacular church, topped with seven cupolas, houses the relics of the Saint in a chapel ornamented with marble carvings by Sansovino and Falconetto. In the piazza out front, you can admire Donatello’s magnificent equestrian statue of the general Gattamelata—the first full-size bronze casting of its kind since antiquity.

Architecture and History

  • Palazzo della Ragione: Reputed to have the largest roof unsupported by columns in Europe, this medieval hall stands over a centuries-old market.
  • Prato della Valle: One of the symbols of Padua, this 90,000 m² elliptical square is believed to be the largest in Europe (after Moscow’s Red Square), featuring a central island garden surrounded by 78 statues of famous citizens.
  • University and Café Culture: Visit the historic Palazzo del Bò, the heart of the University where Galileo once taught, and stop at the Caffè Pedrocchi, a neoclassical “jewel” open for nearly two centuries.

Destination: Venice

After a day spent discovering Giotto’s frescoes and the grand basilicas of Padua, your driver will take you through the final stretch of the Venetian plain, arriving directly at the Piazzale Roma in Venice. You will arrive refreshed and inspired, having turned a 3-hour transfer into a full-day cultural immersion.
